DANCE
SHOW
After getting lost, two brothers embark on a series of exciting adventures. In this production, the performers create an enchantment heightened by props and artifice. Appearances and disappearances result in interesting plot twists through the machinations of a highly original stage device. The lighting acts like a paintbrush, revealing everything it touches and rendering movement supple and poetic as the characters build a relationship through the trials they must overcome to become stronger.
PROJECT
The world of children is full of forbidden elements and shadows that are impossible to understand or explain. While adults tend to think that there is a natural order to things and that every aspect of life can be understood and analyzed, children spend more time in their imaginations, projecting their own interpretations onto the unknown mysteries of their day-to-day lives. With simplicity and confidence, the protagonists of Hocus Pocus show that those mysteries can be navigated without fear.
A major figure in Switzerland’s contemporary dance scene, Philippe Saire has created some 30 productions to date in addition to pop–up performances, short films and workshop training sessions. In 1995, he inaugurated the Théâtre Sévelin in Lausanne to create and perform his works. In 2013, it received the Swiss Federal Office of Culture’s Special Dance Award.
